英文語法和句式上的問題略過，那屬于英文寫作。這里只說文字設(shè)計(typography)，雖然高級的文字設(shè)計和內(nèi)容從來密不可分。
簡歷是大多數(shù)人實踐文字設(shè)計的最常見載體。人人都希望簡歷給人留下好印象，因此或多或少會告誡自己「注意排版」。問題在于具體注意些什么。以下十條是最基本的規(guī)則，若能做到，你的英文簡歷已經(jīng)比90%的中國人(包括英文系學(xué)生)的規(guī)范美觀了。
一、標(biāo)點符號一律使用半角。
二、逗號、句號、分號、冒號、感嘆號、問號和它們后面的字符之間必須留一個半角空格。
錯誤：Hi,I'm an entrepreneur.Can you make this app for me for free?Because,you know,I have this brilliant idea but I don't know how to code.
正確：Hi,I'm an entrepreneur.Can you make this app for me for free?Because,you know,I have this brilliant idea but I don't know how to code.
三、逗號、句號、分號、冒號、感嘆號、問號和它們前面的字符之間不可留任何空格。

四、將長串?dāng)?shù)字分開寫，降低辨識的難度。

五、書名、雜志名、電影名、音樂專輯名、英文中出現(xiàn)的外文(包括拼音，人名除外)用斜體。
錯誤：In 2008,I created this amazing service during my internship at Playboy which is totally LBS avant la lettre.
正確：In 2008,I created this amazing service during my internship at Playboy which is totally LBS avant la lettre.
六、對于電話區(qū)號應(yīng)用不同的符號區(qū)分。
錯誤：+86-139-2739-6856
正確：(86)139 2739 6856或(86)139-2739-6856
七、對于有序列表，應(yīng)採用「阿拉伯?dāng)?shù)字+英文句點+半角空格」的方式。
錯誤：
Three words I hate:
1.Innovation.
2,Leverage.
3 Synergy.
正確：
Three words I hate:

2.Leverage.
3.Synergy.
八、括號弧線外要留空格，弧線內(nèi)不要。
錯誤：Byte Press(née Tangcha)is the best Chinese-language eBook app.Period.

但同一個單詞內(nèi)的括號例外：
錯誤：After the linguistic turn,people are getting addicted to pretentious bracketed words such as‘(ex)plain(ed)’.

九、用彎引號，不要用直(的彎)引號。
錯誤："Bazinga!"'You are pwned!'
正確：“Bazinga!”‘You are pwned!’
十、正確使用各種短橫：em dash(—)是破折號，en dash(–)用來連接年份、時間，是「到」的.意思，hyphen(-)是連字符。
錯誤：Glenn Gould(1932-1982)is probably my one and only hero-the person who taught me to think differently well before Steve Jobs.
正確：Glenn Gould(1932–1982)is probably my one and only hero—the person who taught me to think differently well before Steve Jobs.
注意：
1.若寫作時用兩個hyphen(--)代替破折號，Word等文書處理軟件會自動將其轉(zhuǎn)爲(wèi)em dash。有鑑于em dash輸入不便(Mac上是shift+option+-)，這也是英文寫作通用的替代法。
2.破折號(em dash)兩端可各留一半角空格，亦可不留。此乃英美習(xí)慣之不同，無對錯之分。惟請在同一份簡歷中保持統(tǒng)一。
