Good afternoon, respected school leaders, honored teachers, and fellow students!
Today, I proudly stand here as a representative of all middle schoolers, and I feel greatly honored to have won the middle school English Speech Contest.
First of all, as a 13-year-old boy/girl, Im grateful for all Ive learned. All that Ive gained over the past few years, from humble beginnings to here today, stands as evidence of my success. From the books Ive read, to the understanding and concepts Ive gained, to the conversations Ive had, all these experiences shaped me and led me here today.
Further, Im thankful for the team that helped me on this journey, who encouraged and supported me when I felt discouraged or frustrated. From my parents and teachers to peers and friends, together all of us crafted this speech and earned this victory.
Finally, I must stress the importance of English language learning, no matter which language youre learning. Whether its English, Spanish, Chinese, or any other language, the path to proficiency is the same. You need exposure, willingness to learn, and a determination to succeed. In short, Im honored to receive this award, and Im thankful for all those who helped me get here. Thank you for your kind attention.
Thank you.

Then how can we make it? I have seen lots of diligent students in the early morning reading aloud their English texts without paying any attention to their nearly unacceptable pronunciation. I feel sorry for those students because their hard work deserves a much better English level if they improve their method of learning.
I found that my way of learning English that I formed from middle school still works today. By listening to tapes and imitating the speakers one can improve his pronunciation within a short time. By reciting classic essays one can enrich their language as well as enlarge their vocabulary. As a non-English major, I like to set aside a certain period of time for English learning everyday, usually an hour or at least half an hour. I utilize this precious time by listening to tapes and imitating their content and then reciting the short passages I like. To be frank, “Crazy English” has always been my favorite. This is definitely not intended to flatter. Instead of dividing my attention between too many materials, I’d rather concentrate on one particular resource at a time such as CE, not only because of its abundant content and native English, but also because of the benefits it has brought to me through intensive reading, listening and reciting, I believe that studying English by using these intensive methods will help you to get twice the result with half the effort.

Before every English class we would have an on duty report to let the students say something according to what they had learned .My first presentation in class was to recite a dialogue. But to my great surprise, my teacher praised me for my pronunciation. I tittered because I had imitated the readers in the tape for at least 20 times until finally I couldn’t find any differences between our pronunciations. And I did not realize that this little prize given by my teacher began to influence my English learning magically.
I believe the first three years of English learning guaranteed the possibility of my further achievements because by means of imitation I built a foundation of good pronunciation and by means of reciting I restored the basic element of English language. On the whole, I would like to show my sincere thanks to my first English teachers. Yu Zhiling, who is now still caring for my growth.
The second mirror I would like to mention here reflects an effective way of English learning. I still stick to my point of view that different people have different techniques to learn English well. But there are some methods that seem to be obviously ineffective.
Let’s first have a look at the four important skills for students to master: reading, writing, listening and speaking. I have placed them in order of difficulty.

Good morning everyone,It is my honor to be here today and give a speech about winning awards in middle school in 2022。 It seems so far away, but if we just look back and think about what we have achieved until now, Im sure we have done a lot already.
In our glorious years of middle school, we should strive to achieve the highest levels possible in every area. First and foremost, we should hold onto our dreams and aim high. Having dreams can motivate us to pursue them, and in this way, the awards that come along are just the sweet rewards of hard work.
Moreover, I believe that the most important thing is to be curious, to always want to learn more, and to never be satisfied with mediocrity. Being inquisitive is at the heart of every discovery and innovation, and it is the surest way to winning awards and honors.
We can also take advantage of the skills we learned and developed so far in our academic journeys. Working hard and getting good grades is essential, and, if possible, we can take extra classes or join clubs and practice our skills in order to sharpen our gifts and capacities and sustain academic excellence.
One last thing which is of the utmost importance is self-confidence.
Regardless of what things look like and whatever disappointments may have occurred, we should always believe in ourselves, have faith in our own abilities and never be discouraged by failure.
So, my fellow students, I hope that you all stay true to your dreams, stay inquisitive, keep learning, enhance your talents and never stop being confident in yourself. Only then will you be able to look back in 2022 and say, “I did it!”
Thank you.

Last but not least, the third mirror reflects the interest in English learning. Confucius once said, “Knowing it is not as delighting in it.” Nowhere is this more true than on the matter of English learning. My experience in English learning initiated quite passively, but before long my interest in it began to inspire me to continue the process. To testify my English skills and to stir up even greater enthusiasm, I used to participate in various kinds of competitions.
When I was preparing for a nation-wide English competition in high school, I got to know the “21st Century Cup” English speaking competition for the first time as I used their scripts as my preparing materials. I envied those contestants in the “21st Century Cup” very much. Their English skills and their quick response made me feel swooning. Although I did not get a good rank in the nation wide competition for high school students, I had begun my wildest dream of participating in the 21st Century Cup. Even after I became an engineering student I still held onto my dream, that it would come true some day. Because I can always find something new to challenge me, and set up those challenges as my goals to achieve, I never find English learning a dull job. I believe I will forever cherish the glorious moment when I was on the stage of the “21st Century-Ericsson Cup” 7th national English speaking competition, and my wonderful memories there without any doubt will add passion to my English learning in the days to come.

Hi everyone,
My name is Dongqi Yang from china, I am horror to be here today and I am very happy to receive this award.
As you can imagine, as international students in Australia, the biggest challenge is English,
I remembered that when I come here first time, there is a party in the house of my home stay. During the time, they played jokes and they laughed all the time, do you know how embarrassed that is, everyone laughed except you. So I pretend to understand the joke in another party, I saw everyone laugh and I laugh too in 5 seconds later. My home stay was surprised about that and asked me “do you understand?”, and I answered “no”,?? “So why do you laugh?” ”because I do not want to be embarrassed”!
But as I receive this award today, I want to thank to them, because they encourage me to be involved with the committee rather than staying in at home, play computer and speak Chinese.
When I came to Wantirna College first time, I met liz collar who is international student coordinator. She is very kind to me, and she encourage me join SRC, I went to SRC meetings regularly all the time, but I didn’t even know what SRC was! That is the reason why I told her, I don’t want to go to SRC anymore.? But she said “why not? You should go and you have to go!”I asked” why?” she said:” because I said so!”
But as ii receive this award today, I want to thank her. She helps me a lot.
Truth be told, I am not the best student in Wantirna College, but I appreciate this award and I will try my best in future.
I think I got 10 seconds left, I want to thank to Les and Vera who is my lovely home stay, thanks to Liz collar who is international student coordinator, I strongly want to thank to my mother, because she support me and gave me the opportunity to come to Australia. And thanks to Wantinran College, thanks to Australia and finally, thanks to everyone to be here tonight.
Have a great night.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen,It is an honor to be here, speaking in front of such a distinguished crowd on this special occasion. Today, I have been invited to share a few words of wisdom regarding the rewards, triumphs and challenges that await us in 2022, as we enter our high school lives.
First, let me start by thanking everyone for gathering here. Nothing can be achieved without the support and encouragement of friends and family. While the commitments may be hard and the life of a student may be full of pressure and competition, this is why we encourage ourselves and each other.
No one becomes successful on their own. When it comes to the academic and personal achievements that come from taking advantage of opportunities and pushing ourselves to our highest potential, what truly matter are the hard work, dedication and good attitude that we bring to the table.
That said, it is important to remember that failures and setbacks are part of life. They may be difficult to swallow and to cope with, but they should not be seen as a source of discouragement. Instead, they should serve as a reminder to keep on pushing ourselves, to stay positive, and to learn from and apply these experiences in the future.
In conclusion, Id like to encourage everyone to keep on striving, striving for excellence in all aspects of life. The rewards and successes that lay ahead of us may seem daunting or unachievable, but with meticulous effort, enthusiasm and resilience, we will achieve great things.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Best regards!

Reading is the easiest skill. It is also the most widely found English language skill amongst Chinese student, Writing is a more active skill than reading. However it is still a little easier than speaking, as there is plenty of time to choose the right words look in the dictionary for help, and make corrections. Listening is the third most important language skill to learn. It is far more difficult to listen and understand spoken English than to read English in a book or in a letter. Speaking English may be the most difficult of the four language skills. It is an active skill, and requires the student to put words together into sentences without much time to prepare, and with no time for correction, yet it is the most exciting skill to have, as it opens up wonderful channels of communication with people of others cultures and countries. But this is just what we lack.
More often than not I found some of the students who get high marks in their exams showed an inability to communicate with people in English. And this enabled me to understand deeper what my first English teacher has always emphasized: listening and speaking keeping ahead; reading and writing following up. I believe this is the rule of learning a language because we learn a certain language to communicate. As we conquered the most difficult parts: listening and speaking, we would easily master the writing and reading skills.

Good evening, honorable judging panel, honorable guests, ladies and gentlemen.
It is a great honor for me to be here and share my speech today. The 2022 Middle School Awards English Speech Competition has come at last. It’s a great pleasure for me to participate in this competition and I am proud of myself that I have won the opportunity to make this speech.
I am a student of class 3 in Anyang No.3 Senior High School Wanzhou. I started to learn English from the first grade in primary school. During these seven years, I have developed a good basic knowledge of English. What’s more, at the same time, I have developed a passion for English and a high enthusiasm for English practice and learning.
It’s a beautiful thing to reach a certain level in language learning. What’s more wonderful is to come up with a language idea and put it into practice. In the past school year, under the guidance of my English teacher, I took part in the English speech contest. Through this activity, I summarize my past study experience, convey my thoughts and feelings to everyone, and apply what I have learned to this activity. I also encountered some difficulties in practice. Fortunately, I successfully overcome these difficulties with the help of others.
My English has been greatly improved and my ability to express myself has been greatly enhanced. Through this English speech competition, I have not only gained confidence in speaking English, but also learned to cherish this precious opportunity. It’s really a great experience.
In conclusion, I would like to express my special gratitude to the judging panel and all the guests here. I thank you all for giving me such great honor. Thank you!

Three mirrors reflect the way I learn English After I came back from the “21st century-Ericsson cup”7th national English Speaking competition with the award of the “Most Promising Speaker”, people kept asking me the same question over and over again. “How did you learn English, especially as a Non-English major?” Actually I believe that a hundred people would have a hundred of ways to learn English well. However, I would like to share my personal experience of English learning with those who have the enthusiasm for improve their English. Since I have set up three mirrors in my prepared speech in hoping that they would guide our young generation on the way to globalization, I would like to maintain three mirrors here to reflect how I learned English.
The first mirror, I assume, should reflect a steady foundation. This involves my first few years of English learning, which I consider as the key factor of all my achievements in the years to follow. At that time I entered the middle school attached to Xi’an Jiaoton University, I could only say my ABCs while others in my class could at least communicate in simple English. All the tales about the frightfulness of learning English then popped up in my mind and made me feel scared. Fortunately my first English teacher was very experienced in enlightening her students on English learning. She was a kind woman with a charming smile. But her homework assignments were not easy task: They required us to read after the tape for 20 times and recite the whole text. So it was quite natural that most of my classmates only recited the short essay within a short time and then went to play. But my fear of not being able to say a single word, made me sit down and immerse myself in what the teacher had asked me to do.
