英文求職信時要注意以下四個方面:
一、在語言風格上要平實、簡潔。切忌用夸張、比喻的手法引起誤解,而要給招聘者留下誠懇、務實的印象。招聘者也沒有時間閱讀過長的信件,所以整篇書信要簡短,能控制在一頁16開紙上為最好。
二、在句子結構上要多用長句。長句善于表達復雜事物,一方面有利于準確表達求職者的意圖,容易給招聘者留下思維條理清晰,邏輯性強的印象;另一方面,將大量信息融合到一個句子中,很容易抓住招聘者的注意力,迫使其一口氣讀完,從而留下深刻印象。
三、從語氣上,求職信應寫得誠懇而積極,表達出自己對該單位的向往之情。切忌傲慢或過于自謙。
四、從內容上看,英文求職信一般要包括七個步驟:
1. introducing candidate (介紹候選身份)。在這一部分中,求職者要介紹自己的求職意向和個人情況,包括受教育、專業、工作履歷等方面的情況。
2. establishing credential (確定任職憑證) 在這部分,求職者要表明自己為什么和憑什么選擇這份工作,即自己的專業或目前從事的工作類型。
3. offering incentives (鼓勵接受申請)這一步是招聘者能否給應聘者面試機會的關鍵。應聘者可以從能力、經驗、個人專長、性格優勢等各方面進行闡述,鼓勵招聘者給自己一個面試的機會。
4. enclosing document (提及附加材料)。應聘往往會被要求或自愿隨信附加一些證明文件,比如各種證書和近期照片。最好再附上一個已寫好的回郵信封。以便盡快得到回音。
5. using pressure tactics(采用施壓策略)這是為了獲得面試機會而使用的手段。但這一步對求職者的要求很高,必須對自己的實力有充分的自信,還要了解招聘者的薄弱環節在什么地方,才能積極有效的施加壓力。否者這種手段的效果只能適得其反。
