在申請留學過程中，準備申請材料是一件頗費心思的事情。人在國內，學校在萬里之外，申請者一般都沒有面試的機會。你只能通過高質量的出國留學自薦信和推薦信來說明并展示自己的能力。如何才能讓校方對你的材料另眼相看呢?
出國留學自薦信要脫穎而出應該包括以下八個方面的必要內容：
教育背景：你的大學專業是什么，你為何選擇這個專業，多年來的專業學習學到了什么，與你選擇工商管理研究有什么關系。
工作經歷：你曾經擔任過什么樣的職務，這幾年來的工作中有什么業績、學到了什么，與你攻讀MBA有什么關系。
社會活動組織能力：在大學期間曾經參與或組織過什么活動，曾擔任什么樣的工作，從中又學到了什么。
最滿意的一次經歷：最滿意的一項工作或學習經歷是什么，是怎樣做好它的。
最突出的才能：你認為自己最突出的方面是什么，如領導能力、組織能力、交流溝通能力或是協調能力。
學習計劃和目的：你在攻讀MBA期間的學習計劃是什么，攻讀MBA與你的職業追求、職業目標又有什么關聯。

特長愛好：你其他需要向商學院說明或解釋的，如你的特長和愛好，或者你在某一方面，如學習成績不夠理想，需要向商學院解釋的。

不要忽視東西方文化的差異。中國人一向視“謙虛”為美德，即使取得了不錯的成績也要學會有所保留，而西方人不僅追求“優越”而且還要善于表達出來，所以申請者在寫自薦信時一定要把自己的長處毫不隱瞞地描述出來，使人一眼就能知道你優秀的方面。
