記第一次英語面試

先把記憶加載到2008-11-18，周二。今天天氣很冷，北京的風真的很討厭，吹得臉部神經都麻痹了。10點50趕到EMC在清華科技園的總部，在門口遇到了薄神(他是9點開始的那一批)，問了幾句，說是考基礎知識，沒有算法，稍微安心了一點。

HR GG把我領到一個外國人的辦公室門口，敲門，把我送進去，就把門關了。
花了2秒鐘一看 (1. 辦公室還挺大，比起在外面的小工位上辦公的工程師來說，這個外國人應該是個官；2. 光線好，景色好，工作起來挺舒服的)

看到他還在忙著處理電腦里的事，剛想說'good morning'，他就先說了'sit down, sit down, wait 2 minute'，結果沒說出口，找個椅子坐下，開始準備帶來的簡歷，然后打量他（黑膚寸頭，跟IT民工的形象完全不同）。

他：坐過來
我：馬上把簡歷遞給他，說'this is my resume' (一直覺得這個resume的發音怪怪的)
他：'do you have transcript?'
我：超尷尬，忘了這個單詞是啥意思了，只好說'no, no' (回來一查，是成績單)，同時，他的發音有些模糊，我聽不太清楚。。。聽力有待提高
下面，他開始對著簡歷一行一行地進行詢問，居然不用self-introduction，一下輕松不少。
我：'I got my bechelor degree in sun yat-sen university.' (一直以為中大的帶孫逸仙的英文名，知名度會比拼音的英文名要高)
他：'what is that?'
我：尷尬1秒，說'it's in guangdong province'
他：'are u from guangdong?'
我：'yes'
他：'why did u go to beijing?'
我：思考2秒，'beijing is ... more ... academic, and, guangdong, ... u know, ... more ..., business' (突然不會造句了，ft)

后面詢問了一些獲得獎勵的細節，然后開始介紹我的項目了。

我：balabala一通，同時拿個筆在白板上畫了一通
他：若有所思
我：靈機一動，想起上次幫libcurl提交一個bug的事情，估計外國人會比較喜歡聽。
我：'And happyly, while using libcurl, i found 2 bugs of it, and post my finding to the mailing list, and finnaly they accept my patch.' (典型的中式英語, orz)
他：'what kind of bug?'
我：'it's somewhat like 2 pointers pointing to same memory in 2 modules, and free in one module, still use in another.'
他：'tell me more about it? how do u find the bug, and how u fix it.'
我：yy了1秒(好像他對這個挺感興趣), balabala講了，同時在白板上畫
他：'explain to me again'
我：看來說得太快了，而且沒解釋清楚，又balabala，并且把圖畫得好一點

...省略一堆...

一個小插曲，一個女清潔員敲門，打開后，說'澆花'(中文)，我本來想翻譯給外國人聽，一時想不起用什么單詞來表達'澆花'，沒說出口，后來他用中文很蹩腳地說'不用，不要，謝謝'，清潔員就走了。

...省略一堆...

我：'apache lucene is a open source implement of indexer in search engine.' (把lucene發音成'路沈'，并且重音在前)
他：'no no no, lucene' (發音為'魯信'，重音在后)
我：'i am sorry' (很尷尬，馬上道歉，其它我前一天也上網查過的，但是沒把壞習慣改正過來，orz)

...省略一堆...

他：'if google and emc both give u offer, which will u choose?'
我：'i will choose it carefully' (隨口說的)
他：'i like your answer.' (笑) 'it's a honest answer' (沒想到他還這么認真)
我：'this year, google only has 10 headcounts, and, ... , i am not the best' (說了才后悔，不該亂說話的)

...省略一堆...

他：'do u have any question?'
我：'what do u think of the difference between EMC China and EMC US' (其實，我問完了，就完事了，也沒想聽他怎么回答)
他：'EMC China is more beautiful, and US ...'
我：'US not befutiful ?' (后來想想，我真不禮貌，居然打斷他的說話)
他：'No, no. EMC China has new building, ...'
我：'Do u work in EMC US' (汗一下自己的語法，明顯的時態錯誤)
他：'i work in EMC for 8 years, 6 year in EMC US, 2 year in EMC China.' 若有所思，還停頓了一會 'in US, people are engling to show what they think, and peopl in China do not.'
我：'Meybe culture difference ?' (看到他若有所思，大喜，同時也覺得奇怪，前面面試的人沒問這個問題？)
他：'yes'
我：'i have no more problems.'
他：'not problem, question'
我：一臉尷尬，又重復了一次 'i have no more questions.'
他：'now, it's time to end this interview.'
熱情起立，并握手
我：'hope to see u soon' (哈哈哈，當然是offer才能再見啦)
他：'wish u good luck'

總結一下：
很nice的外國人，問得問題不深，都是與自己的經歷有關
對自己的英語的表現感覺一般，中規中矩，小的語法錯誤再所難免啦

題外話：英語面是第一輪，后面兩輪都是中國人，每輪面試半小時，在同一天內連續進行，因為面得自我感覺不良好(就是差)，估計EMC的15w+的offer與自己無緣了
