A Teacher's ResumeTo Whom It May Concern:
My name is Andrew Lee and I am a Canadian citizen who has recentlygraduated from Global TESOL College and the University of Winnipeg. Inaddition to the foundation TESOL course, I have chosen to specialize inteaching adults, children and business English. The central focus of myacademic history is primarily rooted in Political Science. However, Ihave also obtained a major in Justice and Law and Sociology.
I amcurrently seeking a secure ESL/EFL teaching position in South Korea orTaiwan. I have always had a unique interest in the culture of these twocountries. I currently have several friends teaching abroad, in bothSouth Korea and Taiwan, and I would like to join them. I have heardnothing but good things relating to the people of both countries. It isat this time in which I would like to experience the people and theculture of these countries firsthand.
As noted in my resume, I amcurrently volunteering at the International Centre of Winnipeg. Workingfor this organization has provided me with the opportunity to conductone on one tutoring. As a personal tutor, I have had to developdifferent lesson plans for each student. Currently, I am assisting twoindividuals, each with separate needs. For instance, for the firstindividual, I am helping him acquire his high school English credit. Mycentral focus for this individual is to enhance his reading and writingskills. As for the other individual, I am assisting him in developingstronger listening and speaking skills. As a result of the differentdemands of the students, I have had to develop and employ variousteaching methods.
In addition to tutoring for the InternationalCentre of Winnipeg, I am also currently volunteering as an assistantlanguage teacher at the Winnipeg Adult Education Centre. As anassistant language teacher, I facilitate in the delivery of the lessonplan. In this classroom, the instruction time is divided, with half ofthe time being spent learning through computers and the other halfthrough various tasks and exercises. Although I am not directlyinvolved in developing the lesson plan, I am directly involved in theassessment of student progress, class direction and student teaching.
Asa volunteer for these two organizations, not only have I gainedvaluable teaching experience, I have also been provided the opportunityto attend various ESL/EFL workshops. These workshops have focused on avariety of topics, such as, student assessment according to theCanadian Language Benchmarks, key issues related to listening, speaking, reading and writing, the influence that culture has onlanguage and computer assisted learning. Although I have received aTESOL certificate, participating in these workshops and volunteeringwith these organizations has better prepared me to become an effectiveand efficient ESL/EFL teacher.
You will also find that my personaland professional characteristics are ideally suited for a teachingposition. I am a highly energetic individual with and abundance ofpatience. I thrive in a challenging and fast-paced environment. Iabsolutely enjoy children and working with adults of all levels. Mostof all, I consider myself a friendly and outgoing individual who willnot only help my students succeed, but will also ensure that I will bea valuable asset to the school and the rest of the teaching staff.
Iwish to secure a teaching position by Mid-March of 2004. I am open toteaching either adults or children and willing to relocate to anywherein South Korea or Taiwan. Below is a copy of my resume. If you areinterested, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Andrew Lee
