My community and state are still recovering from the catastrophe that struck recently. A wall of storms with hurricane force winds struck late on a Friday evening knocking down trees, blocking roads, damaging homes, and destroying power lines.
最近的一次災(zāi)難給我們的州、我們的社區(qū)帶來了很大的影響。暴風(fēng)雨夾雜著颶風(fēng)在周五的晚上登陸，樹木被刮倒，道路被封鎖，家園被摧毀，電路被中斷。
Hundreds of thousands of people suddenly found themselves in the dark without water, electricity, air conditioning, telephones, internet, and television. They found themselves cut off from the modern world enduring sweltering 90 degree plus heat with no help and no idea when it would be over.
數(shù)以萬計的人生活在黑暗缺水的環(huán)境中，因?yàn)殡娐返闹袛�，無法使用空調(diào)、電話，也不能上網(wǎng)、看電視。受災(zāi)群眾發(fā)現(xiàn)自己徹底和外界斷了聯(lián)系，忍受著華氏90度(32攝氏度)以上的高溫，束手無策，而且不知道生活何時能恢復(fù)正常。
The most amazing thing happened, however, as the reality of the crisis sank in: it brought out the best in us. While there were a few acts of selfishness and stealing they were overwhelmed by the wave of love and compassion that came from the hearts of so many.

People shared their food, ice, and gasoline. People who still had power opened their homes to those who had none. People rushed out to clear roads and homes of fallen trees. Selfless power crews worked around the clock to repair the damage and restore electricity.

People gathered on front porches to talk, share hugs and offer words of hope and faith that God would see them through it all. Strangers came together as one family to help each other in this time of great need.

It was such a joy seeing all these people acting like true Children of God under the most trying of circumstances.

Lifes disasters strike all of us from time to time. No one is spared.

We all get hurt. We all get challenged.

We all get squeezed by difficulties during our days here.

How we respond to them, though, is up to us.

Good afternoon, my dear teacher and lovely students! Its my pleasure to be here, and I am very glad to share with you about my experience.
When I was 6 years old, I invited my friends to come to my house to play games together. Just as I was moving up the stool and stepping on the switch, I accidentally broke my fathers favorite cup and I was immediately scared to cry. My friend heard the sound and ran to comfort me.
But no matter how he comfort, I once thought that I could be father scolded, couldnt stop crying. At last, he decided to wait for my father returned to confess is his broken cup. Meanwhile, my father came home from work, my friend immediately rushed over, apologized to my father, said that due to his careless, broke the uncles favorite cup and cried with me.
Finally father knew the truth, criticized me seriously and praised my friend.
As the saying goes, "a friend in need is a friend indeed". As long as a friend is not sad and can be happy, even if he is criticized, it doesnt matter. A friend is a person who will watch you in the back of your head whenever you look back.

My definition of success Today I am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. What is success? It is what everyone is longing for.Sometimes success would be rather simple. Winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now I am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success.However, as a person’s whole life is concerned, success becomes very complicated. Is fortune success? Is fame success? Is high social status success? No, I don’t think so. I believe success is the realization of people’ s hopes and ideals.Nowadays, in the modern society there are many people who are regarded as the successful. And the most obvious characteristics of hem are money, high position and luxurious life.
So most people believe that s success and all that they do is for this purpose. But the problem is wether it is real success. We all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. If we keep chasing them, where is the end? What will satisfy us at last? Therefore, we can see, to get the real Success we must need something inside, which is the realization of Different people have different ideas about success; cause people’s hopes and ideas vary from one another. But I am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. These are the best treasures. So now I am very proud that I have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. It is my success, cause I raise up to challenge my hope. What is success? Everyone has his owninterpretation as I do. But I am sure every success leads to an ever-brighter future. So ladies and gentlemen, believe in our hopes, believe in ourselves!

Several years ago, I lost my brother in a terrible accident. My brother, who was a lovely and handsome boy, but an accident cruelly snatched his young life. He should have possessed a bright future and colorful life. I was so sad and my spirit was in collapse at that time. I don’t know how to express my feeling or what should I do. I could not believe this truth would have happened to me. I tried to hide my feeling in my bottom heart in order to prevent others seeing my sadness.
After knowing the bad news, my friend, Li Hang, came to my house and stayed with me. He tried his best to make me happy and forgot the terrible thing. I still remember what he said, no matter what happened, I will stay with you all the time. I was deeply moved. He persuaded me to go out to walk with him. Sometimes, he just walked quietly beside me. In addition, he lent his favorite book to me when I am alone at my house. A couple days later, I felt better than before. Without his company, I couldnt go out from the sadness and shadow. Being alone, I was not willing to tell anyone about my feeling. I do really appreciate that what he did for me.
As the proverb says “A friend in need is a friend in deed”, if two person are really good friends, no matter what happens, they should help each other. They should stand side by side and go out from hard times together.

When you feel sad , when you enjoy the happiness , when you feel isolated , when you were surrounded by croweds , the preson you think of is a friend who cames into your heart . In our lives , maybe we have a lot of friends but a friend in need is a friend indeed ,so we often have only one or two friends can go into our heart, and we call them real friend.
As we all know, friends are for us what water are for fish. I believe everyone needs friends to share his or her sorrow and happiness, especially when we meet some special troubles and we cannot ask for help from our parents or live far away from home, how should we do? In this case, of course, is friends. Our friends always give us them hands, help us solve the matters,so, there is no doubt that the guys who we settling the problems together, celebrating the victory together, we growing together are playing an important roles in our lives. How necessary friends are! Although, as a coin has two sides, sometimes, we may unable to avoiding the mistakes with friends,but when it is advisable to bear in "a friend in need is a friend indeed", friendship always make us at home.
