          Applying to university always involves a certain amount of stress and confusion, especially if it's your first time. Rest assured—everyone figures it out in the end. To help you get organized, this page provides a summary of the four main steps of the admissions process.

          STEP 1: EXPLORE

          The first, most important step involves determining which field of study interests you, and then making your program selection.

          In addition, you can attend various activities, like an information session or an UdeM Open House, which are good opportunities to explore your options and find answers to your questions. Ideally, your final choice should include two program selections.

          Once you have made your program selection, you can start preparing your application file.

          STEP 3: SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

          When you are ready, you can access the online application form. Be sure to read all the instructions before you begin. A guide in English is provided to help you fill out the application form, which is available only in French. It provides official English translations of the words, instructions and messages appearing in the form. We recommend that you keep this guide handy as you complete the form.

          You must pay the administrative application fee by Visa or MasterCard when you submit your application.

          If you have never studied nor worked at Université de Montréal and you are submitting your first application, you will receive two emails with the codes to set up your UdeM accounts.           You can then access the Centre étudiant, a transactional site that will be very useful to you throughout your university career.

          We will use the Centre étudiant to notify you of all important information regarding the processing of your application, including the list of official documents to submit and your decision notice.

          The time required to process an application varies depending on various factors. You may therefore have to wait several weeks, possibly even several months

          After you have accepted your offer of admission, you must choose your courses and develop your global Study Plan. The student records technician is the resource person in your unit who will take care of your file. The student records technician of the program that accepted you will send you the course choice procedure. You will develop your global study plan with your research supervisor.

          The processing of your application file incurs administrative fees. Please note that the fees are not refundable and that applications may not be cancelled. To avoid the automatic closure of your application, it is essential that you pay these fees upon submission.

          Note: If you are applying to an undergraduate program as well, you must fill out a second application, which will also incur fees.

          Payment method

          You must pay by Visa or MasterCard to submit the application online. You may make the payment with your own card or one belonging to another person (one of your parents, for example).

          四、Official documents to submit

          All documents submitted must be official, meaning that they must be original documents or true copies certified by an authorized person. Documents will not be considered official if the “certified copy” endorsement is reproduced in a photocopy.

          Original diplomas will be returned to you if you live in Canada or the United States.

          Most departments ask applicants to graduate studies to provide letters of recommendation to support their applications. Depending on the program, additional documents may be requested to assess your file.

          CENTRE ÉTUDIANT "À FAIRE" SECTION

          After you submit your application, you will find a list of documents to submit in the "À faire" section of your file in the Centre étudiant. Please note that this list will be updated only once your application has been processed. If you have already submitted the documents listed there and they continue to appear in your file, simply disregard the list.

          International students

          Upon arrival in Montréal, all foreign students must finalize their file at UdeM's Foreign students office by providing the entry documents required to study; failure to do so will result in their registration in the current session being cancelled permanently.

          After submitting your application:

          You may replace one program selection with a program of the same level that is still open for admission in the same session on the date of your change request

          WHAT YOU CANNOT DO

          Add program selections to your initial application.

          Make a change request if you have already been offered admission and have accepted. In such cases, no change requests will be processed.

          Change the start session

          If you wish to change the start session of your program, you must submit your request directly to the FESP. Certain rules apply.

          Correct an error in your application

          Please note that some modifications may be carried out free of charge if they do not concern your program selection and if they correct an error in your name, your date of birth, or the list of your prior studies, for example.

          六、Addition and change of program

          If you are already a student at UdeM and you wish to withdraw from one program and begin another, you may do so using the online application form, except for programs in the Faculty of Music, where you must first contact the Admissions Student Records Technician.

          Be sure to enter your UdeM identification code (login) and your password (UNIP) when you open the form.

          You wish to change your program selection after submitting an application?

          If you have already submitted an application or filled out an application form because of a change of program and wish to replace your selection with another program of the same level offered in the same session, you must fill out the Demande de modification de choix de programmes aux cycles supérieurs (Graduate program selection change request form).

          * The processing of your file will incur fees. These fees are not refundable.

          You have completed one program and wish to begin another? You must submit an application.

          You wish to change to another program of the same level in a different discipline?
