The Mirror and I
I like to look into the mirror. I remember when I was a little girl, I often stood on my toes, trying to find my face in the mirror of the dressing table, which was nearly as high as I was. Now I still like to look into the mirror. Only now, the dressing table is too low for me. As I bend down, I see the face of a young woman, glowing with maturity, confident in her future and fascinated with her own reflection.
The fact that I like to look into the mirror has to do with my granny with whom I spent most of my childhood. I remember clearly that one night I heard her murmuring, "Women can't be seen. Women can't be seen." I was so confused as to look into the mirror the next morning to check if I could indeed see myself. Only now as a young woman myself, can I understand that it was not physical visibility that granny had on her mind.
Granny spent all her life taking care of the family, day in and day out. She cooked for her husband and 10 children. But whenever guests came, she and other female family members had to eat by the stove in the small kitchen. At family discussions, she was never asked for her opinion. After grandpa passed away, she had to listen to my uncle, her eldest son, fulfilled her duty as daughter, wife, and mother; yet as a person, she remained little noticed. Even though she could see herself in the mirror of the dressing table, she was never visible in the mirror of society.
I have been living a different life. At home, I make decisions together with the rest of the family. In school, I often take charge of various activities the same as other boys and girls. Not only that, I can see something granny could not have dreamed of─making decisions for my own future. My life has been a series of decisions. I could choose from several universities as I came out of high school. At university, I could choose from a range of subjects from English literature to business law. And now upon graduation, I am again faced with decisions─to further my study or to go to work; to stay in China or to go abroad; to get married right away or to remain single for a bit longer.
It does not matter whether or not I will become famous or rich, but I will treasure the chance to demonstrate my potential and to help other women demonstrate theirs as full members of society, fully visible in the mirror of history. I will treasure it because the abundance of choice that I enjoy came only after decades of efforts made by my granny, my mum, and millions of other Chinese women.
However, the choices to be made by me and others of my generation are a great challenge. The misconception that men are superior to women is still dominating many people's minds. While men are encouraged to compete and to assert themselves, we are expected to be quiet, loyal and obedient. This is not very different from what is expected of us as good wives and good mothers. The challenge we face calls for a higher level of our personal development and self-determination.
The story of my grandmother and myself mirrors the lives of millions of other women in China and perhaps in the world. Many of them still lead the life of my grandmother. Their worth is not yet recognized. It is the responsibility of a young person like me to work hard and struggle hard so that they too will see themselves and will be seen in the mirror of society.
This is my dream. This dream, I believe, is not only shared by our grandmothers, mothers and sisters, but also by many of our fathers, brothers, husbands and male colleagues.

一、注重預(yù)習(xí)。
“預(yù)習(xí)”是一種良好的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣，是課堂教學(xué)中的重要環(huán)節(jié)。它作為學(xué)習(xí)過程的起始階段，是培養(yǎng)學(xué)生自學(xué)能力的重要途徑，在提高學(xué)習(xí)效率方面有著重要的作用。它不僅能幫學(xué)生“學(xué)會(huì)”知識(shí)，更能幫助學(xué)生“會(huì)學(xué)”知識(shí)。做好預(yù)習(xí)工作，功在課外，利在課內(nèi)。我們有以下幾個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)：

Imagine a car without a steering wheel. Tough to imagine, right? Well, actually that’s the image you see if a person has no faith. Faith helps to guide us in our lives, encourage us to persist, and give directions when we are lost.
In this peaceful era, our life paths seem to be already well-planned and determined. What we have to do is to follow. Yes, we may face different sorts of challenges, but at least they are less harsh when compared to those in the past. We do not need to worry about starving to death, or how to earn enough money to buy food for our siblings and sustain our lives.
It is like driving from a muddy road into a highway. In the muddy road, path, you would say, as it is formed only by crossing on it many times, flattening the ground to form a smoother area so we can pass. The road is so bumpy and rough, with holes here and there and rocks lying all over. When we drive along this road, we have to be very careful, having a firm grip on the steering wheel, ready for a sudden turn or a large boulder that may appear any second. However, when we drive on a highway, everything becomes different. The road is smooth, straight, and visible. Since there is no unseen obstacle, we may lower our guard, relax a bit, and loosen our grip on the steering wheel. One may even think, if we only have to drive on a smooth straight road like this highway, why would we need a steering wheel?
Faith is unique, just as happiness is. We feel happy for different reasons, we believe for different things. How can we know what we believe in? Recall the last time you are discouraged, and you felt you had lost all hopes in your life. What pulled you back into the world? What pushed you to stand up and continue to strive again? That is your faith, your belief. Faith is what makes you feel you can when others say you can’t.
!Faith is important…, faith is vital…, faith is necessary for us to live our lives. If we do not have faith, we are like a car without a steeling wheel. We can only afford to move along a straight and smooth path, and cannot meet any challenge in our lives. One must understand that no matter how smooth the road is, it is impossible for a car to go without a steering wheel. We are learning from each others' strength and endurance, not against our bodies and our diagnoses, but against a world that exceptionalizes and objectifies us. I really think that this lie that we've been sold about disability is the greatest injustice. It makes life hard for us. And that quote, "The only disability in life is a bad attitude," the reason that that's bullshit is because it's just not true, because of the social model of disability. No amount of smiling at a flight of stairs has ever made it turn into a ramp. Never. (Laughter) (Applause) Smiling at a television screen isn't going to make closed captions appear for people who are deaf. No amount of standing in the middle of a bookshop and radiating a positive attitude is going to turn all those books into braille. It's just not going to happen.

從大學(xué)畢業(yè)到現(xiàn)在我已走上講臺(tái)整整七年，而在過去的七年當(dāng)中讓我進(jìn)步最快的就是上個(gè)學(xué)期。在上個(gè)學(xué)期，為提高課堂教學(xué)效率，打造高效課堂，切實(shí)落實(shí)“五步短動(dòng)式教學(xué)法”在課堂中的運(yùn)用，我前后共上了六節(jié)公開課。通過反復(fù)的實(shí)踐，使我的教學(xué)觀念有了一個(gè)巨大的轉(zhuǎn)變，對(duì)“五步短動(dòng)式教學(xué)法”有了更深的理解，將“五步短動(dòng)式教學(xué)法”融入到每節(jié)課中，盡可能地發(fā)揮學(xué)生的主體地位，盡可能地創(chuàng)設(shè)和諧、民主、寬松的教學(xué)環(huán)境，讓學(xué)生真正成為課堂的主人。下面介紹一下我在教學(xué)中的幾點(diǎn)做法。
一、轉(zhuǎn)變課堂教學(xué)模式
有人認(rèn)為歷史是一門老師好教、學(xué)生好學(xué)的學(xué)科。對(duì)于學(xué)生來說，不需要有什么基礎(chǔ)，只要認(rèn)真學(xué)習(xí)就不會(huì)有太大的問題。但是在現(xiàn)實(shí)教學(xué)中我所面臨的問題是：有的學(xué)生不愛學(xué)，學(xué)的不認(rèn)真、不積極，惰性極強(qiáng)。面對(duì)這種情況，我在上課時(shí)靈活運(yùn)用“五步短動(dòng)式教學(xué)法”，將課堂分解為“看一看”、“說一說”、“聽一聽”、“議一議”、“練一練”五個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)，穿插于整節(jié)課,使師生之間一直處于互動(dòng)狀態(tài)，盡量提高學(xué)生注意力。敢于放手，注意培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的各方面能力，把大部分的講授時(shí)間交還給學(xué)生使用,發(fā)揮學(xué)生的主體作用。在課堂上不

二、小組評(píng)價(jià)機(jī)制滲透到課堂內(nèi)外
課堂上組織學(xué)生以學(xué)習(xí)小組為單位參與學(xué)習(xí)，回答問題即可得到相應(yīng)的分?jǐn)?shù)，然后把分?jǐn)?shù)統(tǒng)計(jì)作為評(píng)選“優(yōu)秀小組”的依據(jù)。尤其對(duì)一些學(xué)困生，我往往采用學(xué)困生答對(duì)問題加雙倍分，幫助他們樹立自信心，不放棄學(xué)習(xí)。利用小組評(píng)價(jià)機(jī)制也打破了課堂沉悶、死板的狀態(tài)，激發(fā)了學(xué)生主動(dòng)學(xué)習(xí)的熱情。我還把小組評(píng)價(jià)機(jī)制沿用到課后的作業(yè)和知識(shí)點(diǎn)背誦的檢查中。在作業(yè)中，書寫工整、規(guī)范并且及時(shí)改錯(cuò)的就給予加分;而對(duì)于那些不認(rèn)真完成作業(yè)、不及時(shí)改錯(cuò)的就減分，并鼓勵(lì)他們?cè)谡n堂上通過積極參與課堂將因?yàn)樽约核鶃G的分?jǐn)?shù)賺回來。在知識(shí)點(diǎn)背誦的檢查中，凡是按照老師要求全組同學(xué)都背誦完的就給予加分，班上第一個(gè)背誦完的小組給予雙倍加分。大大提升了學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)的積極性。通過一個(gè)學(xué)期的實(shí)踐，證明小組評(píng)價(jià)機(jī)制的運(yùn)用是行之有效的。
三、重視學(xué)生興趣的.培養(yǎng)
“愛好是最好的導(dǎo)師”，沒有興趣，學(xué)習(xí)就會(huì)成為負(fù)擔(dān)。有了興趣，學(xué)習(xí)就成為一種需求，就學(xué)得輕松愉快，動(dòng)力無窮。歷史課是一門非常有趣的科目，一節(jié)優(yōu)秀的歷史課應(yīng)該設(shè)法將生動(dòng)、鮮活的歷史呈現(xiàn)在學(xué)生面前，不能只是枯燥地灌輸和強(qiáng)迫學(xué)生死記那些歷史知識(shí)。在我進(jìn)行歷史教學(xué)時(shí)，經(jīng)常運(yùn)用多媒體教學(xué)手段，播放一些紀(jì)錄片、電影資料或相關(guān)的歌曲，創(chuàng)造歷史情境，讓學(xué)生置身其中，激發(fā)他們對(duì)歷史的學(xué)習(xí)興趣。例如，在講授《鄭和下西洋》時(shí)，我播放了一段紀(jì)錄片資料，不需要深入解釋，學(xué)生就能理解這個(gè)部分的主要內(nèi)容。在講授《蒙古的建立及元朝的統(tǒng)一》中的“行省制”時(shí)，通過課件演示將抽象的內(nèi)容具體化，調(diào)動(dòng)學(xué)生的各種感觀，加強(qiáng)對(duì)知識(shí)的掌握。學(xué)生對(duì)歷史產(chǎn)生了興趣，課堂上所講的知識(shí)會(huì)更加深刻，提高了學(xué)習(xí)效果。

構(gòu)建歷史知識(shí)體系有助于厘清歷史知識(shí)的線索，使其更具系統(tǒng)性和條理性，從而提升學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)成績。因此，在我講授新課時(shí)，我非常注重與舊知識(shí)點(diǎn)的關(guān)聯(lián)，并重視引導(dǎo)學(xué)生構(gòu)建自己的“歷史知識(shí)體系”，力求讓他們形成每一課、每一個(gè)單元以及整本書的獨(dú)特的知識(shí)體系。這樣，在復(fù)習(xí)時(shí)，學(xué)生的思路將更加清晰明了，能夠節(jié)省大量時(shí)間，顯著提高學(xué)習(xí)效率。
