Actor Resume Template and Resume Examples
Being an actor or actress can be one of the most exciting occupations in the world. It is also super competitive and very few can plan on an extended career as an actor due to the lack of stable income. Regardless of whether you are just starting out in this occupation or whether you are already have some experience, writing a good actor resume from a resume example is a must.Just like in all other professions, you need a resume to sumarize your skills and training and then present what jobs you have done.
An actor resume template can help you to get started in writing an attention grabbing resume. While this resume might not get posted on Monster.com, it does not mean that the format can be sloppy. One thing to keep in mind when using an actor resume template is that it really does vary somewhat from a traditional resume format. Informaion that you would never include on a normal resume is often included on an actor resume template. Information included might include height and weight as well as hair color or eye color also. The reason such information is included on an actor resume template is that it could be critical to a particular role. In addition, an actor resume will often have many pages of credits (if you are established), where a normal resume you would not have that.
As with all resumes, an actor resume template will list information about your relevant work experience. Listing your work experience in a chronological fashion is a good way to list all of your performances.Just like a regular resume, you will want to highlight the key, relevant work experience and not list all the bit parts unless they are relevant. No one wants to read 17 pages of extra work and odd jobs.
In addition to your work experience, an actor resume template will also require that you list any special accomplishments or awards that you have won. Listing such accomplishments and awards can make a big difference in helping you to land a role that you want. Make sure you are clear about your accomplishements without sounding like a braggard.
One of the best ways to present your work experience and your accomplishments on your resume is with bullet points. This helps to draw the reader's eye to the most critical elements of your resume and really helps your resume to stand out. There are many styles of bullet points on Word and other processors - just keep it professional.using little happy faces as a bullet is not a good idea.
Of course education and formal training are key elements of any resume, and its no different here. You would always want to include special training you took that helped your acting career. This is especially true for acting lessons or other specialized forms of training. If you have trained under someone special or significant, make sure you emphasize that part. In addition, if this directly helped you to land a key role, note that as well here if it makes sense.
For the most part, you will want to make sure that you keep your resume to one or two pages. If you have a vast amount of experience, you might want to leave off minor roles and just concentrate on the significant ones so that you can keep the resume to a single page. For those actors who are more established, try to keep it to twwo pages or include a work supplement that will summarize all your roles. If you really have had a lot of key experience, perhaps writing up a separate dossier of just your related experience is a good idea - you can hand this to someone in person. This would free your resume up to be a single page. Make sure you put on there that there is a separate listing of work history so the person reviewing your resume knows to look for it or ask for it. While this is not on any resume example you might find, it does work in certain situations.
